During my lunch break, I ordered an information pamphlet and application for the University at Manchester.

This

is where I really really really really want to go to school to get my Masters in Accounting.

I used their website, and figured out my finances (all figures in GBP)

12,500 - Tuition (for one-year masters programme)
3,500 - Student residence
3,000 - Food and incidentals
1,300 - Boarding for summer while sitting for CPA
500 - Plane ticket to get there
100 - Application to British Gov't for visa

Grand total: GBP 20,900 (roughly $41,800 and subject to currency fluctuations and price increases)

The good news is Manchester will take US student loans, so I can get the government to pay 12,500 for the year I'm there, which leaves me with GBP 12,500/$25,000 debt, but that's $25K I don't have to worry about coming up with right now.

Oh, and I saved $100 to go, so I'm at 0.59% of budget!

In any case, I have a while to save up - I'm not planning on going for at least 3 more years.

But here's a pic of the residence hall, a room, and the refectory (& they serve high tea on Sundays!):

That's just so everyone can SEE what I'm saving up and planning for. But the closest I got to Britain today was the egg salad sandwich I ate for lunch....
